FYI: With 21% in gains for the year, investors in Standard & Poor’s 500 index funds are being amply rewarded again: They’ve outpaced practically every diversified domestic stock fund category tracked by Morningstar, except large- and mid-cap growth funds. This showing has continued to fuel flows into index funds, most notably the exchange-traded fund triumvirate of Vanguard, BlackRock (ticker: BLK), and State Street (STT)—and withdrawals from other fund complexes. But how long can it last?
