Franklin Templeton’s New ETF Strategy

Another active shop just bit the bullet on passive investing. Franklin Templeton, once Franklin Resources’ (ticker: BEN) active-only funds arm, last week said that it would launch 16 market-capitalization weighted single-country and regional exchange-traded funds, the largest simultaneous listing on the New York Stock Exchange in the past five years.

One could say that Franklin Templeton, which has $753 billlion in assets, is late to the game; its first foray into the passive side of the ETF universe is happening just a couple...
