Puerto Rico Bonds After Maria

Any optimism that Puerto Rico’s massive debt would get renegotiated in a timely fashion has been dashed by the impact of two monster storms that struck the island this month.

Barron’s noted last November there were glimmers of hope the restructuring process would proceed apace after formation of a financial control board and election of a new governor (see “Upside in Puerto Rico Municipal Bonds,” Nov. 26). Not anymore.
