Nice pop for gold today

edited August 2017 in Off-Topic
Bloomberg shows the yellow metal up $15+ today, and now above $1300 for the first time in a while. I've always been fascinated by the stuff. (It's pretty for one thing.) Dubious value for investing purposes - so no lectures please. Last place I would tuck away money. That said, in today's overbought bond and equity markets, and near 0% cash yields, I think owning a small (2-5%) amount makes sense.

Might be fun to list some professional money managers who like it now (there are several) along with reasons why it has perked up recently.

Geez - What happened in the crude market? Last night gasoline & oil was on a tear because of the flooding in the Texas refinery areas. But today - - complete reversal & down.

  • Yeah, I don't understand either of the golds, black or yellow, but especially the yellow. Rono tried his darnedest in regards to the yellow stuff but apparently I'm just dense.
