Q&A With John Rogers, Founder, Chairman, & CEO Ariel Funds

edited June 2017 in The Bullpen
FYI: John W. Rogers, Jr. was introduced to investing at age 12, when his father began to give him gifts of stock instead of toys at each birthday and Christmas. His father's guidance paid off.

Now 59 years old, Rogers is founder, chairman, CEO and chief investment officer of Chicago-based Ariel Investments, with $11.7 billion in assets under management (AUM). The firm, founded in January 1983, runs six no-load mutual funds with $4.6 billion in cumulative AUM as well as separately managed accounts. And Rogers is a pioneer. He was the first African-American founder of a major mutual fund complex, preceding Eddie C. Brown of Brown Capital Management by about six months.
Regards,
Ted
