This came to me on another website. Hedge fund manipulations plausible or hot air!!
Hedge funds manipulate and do all manner of things and figure out whatever they can within the rules (and probably sometimes outside the rules.) However, in the case of Patrick Byrne, I think the issue becomes here is a guy (CEO of Overstock), who has been on an absolute crusade against hedge funds regarding naked shorting - while he may be right, I think aspects of it seem like trying to find an excuse for why his company hasn't performed.
and a discussion of Byrne's calling members of the media and others evil "Sith Lords" http://www.businessinsider.com/meet-the-sith-lords-2009-12 James Altucher and Joe Weisenthal may be "Sith Lords", but primarily because they're the two most annoying people in the financial world.
Thank You Scott for your links. Looks like Bryne's focus is not in the best interest of Overstock's share holders. How can he still be in control after his 11 year crusade??
He's probably right to some degree about some of the things he's gone on a crusade about, but if he's using the resources of Overstock to do it (which would appear to be the case), I'd be very upset as a shareholder.
