Biblically Responsible’ ETFs Are NOT ESG Funds

FYI: (This is a follow-up article.)
Two so-called biblically responsible exchange-traded funds came market under the symbol BLES and ISMD. Omaha, Neb.-based Northern Lights Distributors’ two new funds the Inspire Global Hope Large Cap ETF and the Small/Mid Cap Impact ETF will eschew abortion, gambling, alcohol, and pornography stocks as other religious funds and socially responsible funds do. The indices will also explicitly exclude companies that participate in lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender lifestyle as well as companies conducting business in countries with oppressive regimes.

Some are associating these funds with funds that conduct environmental, social, and governance or ESG factor analysis. They shouldn’t be.

Ted
