John Waggoner: At Vanguard, Customer Complaints Rise Along With Assets
FYI: Company plans to hire 1,700 new employees this year to address the problem. As assets at Vanguard have soared, customer complaints have risen, too — something the fund behemoth is taking steps to fix, in part by hiring 1,700 new employees this year. I can tell you right now, people and systems at Vanguard cannot round numbers properly. They have never fixed that problem. Extremely irritating. There is no earthly way you can make a fixed dollar investment and come up with the same number of shares at the price they were bought. This is my experience half of the times.
@VintageFreak, I had the same experience, & because of it, got in the habit of checking every transaction, no matter how tiny, to make sure they weren't making any big mistakes.
No longer with V, but at Fidelity I still check, and have never once found any difference in my vs. their calculation on a buy or sell.
