Nick Kaiser and Scott Klimo might invest according to principles dictated by the Islamic faith, but their first exposure to shariah was rather unreligious.
Kaiser, who has run Saturna Capital’s shariah-focused Amana funds since the 1990s, says a man walked into his office, then in Indianapolis, in 1984 and pitched him the idea. “I said, ‘Well if you teach me what those [rules] are, I would love to learn.’ ”
