Mutual-Fund Mergers, Acquisitions Likely to Rise

FYI: (Click On Article Title At Top Of Google Search)
The decision by Janus Capital Group to merge with British fund company Henderson Group could signal the start of a wave of consolidation.

The mutual fund industry has been roiled by competition from exchange-traded funds, which offer diversified portfolios at lower costs. The equity funds that have attracted assets in the past few years tend to charge lower fees. And it’s not easy for a small- or midsize company to compete in a low-fee environment, particularly with mounting regulatory costs. One way to cut costs is to join forces.
