Lewis Braham: Should You Follow A Star Money Manager?

FYI: (Click On Article At Top Of Google Search)
Chances are if you followed superstar manager Bill Gross from Pimco Total Return to Janus Global Unconstrained, you’re licking your wounds right now. But if you switched from Pimco Unconstrained Bond, you’re celebrating. That’s because Pimco Total Return has beaten Janus since Gross left, while Pimco Unconstrained has lagged.

Does the fact that a well-regarded manager like Gross is or isn’t at the helm really make that much of a difference? Blame our celebrity-oriented culture, but thinking one manager is solely responsible for a fund’s success is like watching Mission: Impossible and thinking Tom Cruise is the only reason it’s any good—or terrible

Ted
