Second wave of Chinese real estate investors making more money in the U.S.

Much Chinese based money continues to move into many sectors globally and into the U.S., too. The linked article is related to U.S. real estate investments.

  • Last time we visited Vancourer, BC, the real estate market value was bid up by mainland Chinese investors. Guess that is a good way to obtain real asset.
  • Hi @Sven
You may find this of interest regarding a new surcharge upon foreign investment in BC real estate. Ontario province has had this discussion, too; but nothing is in place at this time. Real estate prices in Ontario, the surrounds of Toronto in particular; have been outrageous for several years. BC is a beautiful area; as well as areas around Toronto. Toronto is one city where many Americans living there would experience many cultures of the globe in one metropolitan setting, without having to leave the area.

  • @catch, We have visited and enjoyed a number of Candian cities. To maintain a reasonable real estate market value, there is nothing wrong with some limitations from foreign investment. Vancourer Islands have many American retirees who learned the joy of sailing and the natural beauty.

Did you know that Americans cannot buy real estate in Mexico, instead the title is composed of a "99-years lease"? Good place to visit in certain locations, but personal safety is becoming a serious concern.
