The Closing Bell: Nasdaq Climb As Fed Hints At September Rate Hike In Nine Words

TedTed
edited July 2016 in The Bullpen
FYI: Treasuries rose, the dollar pared gains and U.S. stocks remained mixed as the Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged and reiterated a slow pace of tightening even as the economy shows signs of improvement. Gold advanced.

The Federal Reserve’s policy statement on Wednesday contained more than 500 words, but investors are focusing on just nine.
The central bank opted to keep its policy rate unchanged, but it opened the door to further rate rises in the coming months by adding in the following line: “Near-term risks to the economic outlook have diminished.”
Regards,
Ted
