FYI: Investors have piled into bond mutual funds this year (see table below). At the same time, they have dumped U.S. equity funds and emptied a notable portion of their money-market fund balances. I understand the emotion behind this and I see how retirees in particular would make such moves, following the S&P 500's worst start to a year ever, back in January and early February of this year.
