FYI:Scott Burns says his friend Laurence Kotlikoff is running for president again because our choices this year are dismal, and he believes we need to discuss and understand the issues. When he announced he was running for President four years ago, I barely humored my friend. All he would succeed in doing, I warned, is to live forever as “the economist who ran for President.”
He would be buried in that sound bite. The media wouldn’t even see him as the amazing economist he is. Our news media wouldn’t treat him seriously, I warned. For one thing, he didn’t have money behind him and TV, at least, is all about the money. Newspapers don’t do too badly in Presidential election years, either. Basically, the media are part of the problem.
