Bespoke’s Asset Class Performance Update — 3/8/16

FYI: Below is a look at the performance of various asset classes today using our key ETF matrix. While the S&P 500 (SPY) fell 1.09%, the Energy sector fell nearly 4x that amount with a decline of 4.2%. It was just the 57th time the Energy sector has fallen 4%+ since 1990, and just the 19th time the sector has fallen 4%+ and underperformed the S&P 500 by more than 3 percentage points. Historically, on the day after 4%+ drops for Energy, the sector has averaged a gain of 1.3%. We’ll see if tomorrow brings a similar bounce.
