FYI: Wall Street is loathed to admit that investing in the vast majority of their nearly 8,000 mutual funds suck. Despite their armies of research analysts, long hours interviewing management and tomes of stock research, mutual fund managers fail to beat the stock market or the S&P 500 (SPY) in the long run. S&P Dow Jones Indices’ research year after year has found that no mutual funds can hold onto their leadership and stay in the top quartile after five years. Only a handful manage to stay in the top half over five 12-month periods in a row.
