FYI: After the Great Recession, as declining equity prices pulled the stock market down, dividends became a bigger part of total returns. That enabled dividend stock mutual funds to outperform the S&P 500 for the first part of the past 10 years.
But the ongoing bull market — which is more than six and a half years old — has given growth stocks and mutual funds that focus on them a new head of steam.
