Correcting a Betrayal: How Business Can Honor Veterans’ Service

Hi Guys,

Almost all of us almost all the time take great pride in our military. We appreciate and acknowledge the sacrifices that our military folks continuously make under dangerous circumstances and hazardous conditions.

But there are exceptions. On this Veteran’s Day, in a WSJ article General David Petraeus reports on a limited corporate betrayal to that tradition. Here is a Link to the Petraeus disclosure which is titled “How Business Can Honor Veterans’ Service”:

Unfortunately, Petraeus chooses not to name names. I want those names. So do a number of the WSJ readers who responded to his article.

Jobs for all returning veterans must be a national common goal. It’s a win-win-win scenario for the veteran, the Nation, and his employer.

Military training and experiences enhance the work ethic of military folks. We benefit from their direct service and later from the positive qualities that were learned in doing that service. They know how to get the job done.

It is a foolish economic mistake as well as an injustice to their personal sacrifices not to honor them and their work productivity potential. Shame on those who have forsaken their national duty and abruptly abandoned our military.

Let’s identify these losers and take appropriate actions. Let’s change this disgraceful action by some misguided CEOs. I encourage all to join the battle.

Best Regards from an old brown-shoe soldier.

    or google it.
  • I would say the same thing for the thousands of non-voilent offence prisoners who are being released (or did they releaes them already?). If they can't find a job, they'll end back in prison.
  • We need some demand side economics (e.g. raising the minimum wage, rebuilding the infrastructure) to stimulate aggregate demand.

Oh, and BTW, every person in jail for a marijuana offense should receive an unconditional pardon and have their record expunged.

    and so it goes,

    peace,
