  • At this point, wouldn't the the stock holdings of the other Matthew funds be on a value list?
  • Andrew Foster (former Matthews, now SFGIX/SIGIX) has already considered that Asia holds value-plays by now, in a recent semi-annual report or conference call.
  • You need to start a value fund to buy those stocks who have fallen to "value" levels. How else would the other funds NAV increase?

Sorry to be cynical. I own some Matthews fund in my IRA. However, I think this is done all the time.
  • MACSX is the large value fund in the Matthews stable; I'll be interested to see how/if the holdings of this new fund differ materially from it.
  • They also have MAIPX, which is focussed on dividends, kinda value oriented fund. I do not see a need to yet another fund other than for asset gathering and possibly to retain talent.

What next ? Matthews Chinca value fund, India value fund, Asia Frontier markets value fund ?:-)
