U.S. household incomes slip, poverty rate up slightly in 2014

WASHINGTON, Sept 16 (Reuters) - American household incomes lost ground last year and the poverty rate ticked up, a sign the U.S. economic expansion had yet to lead to gains for many Americans five years after the 2007-2009 recession.

"In 2014, real median household income was 6.5 percent lower than in 2007, the year before the most recent recession," Census researchers wrote.

    Thanks for the additional link, Ted. From your MarketWatch article:

    "The typical household makes less than it did before the recession... Declining living standards may explain rise of political outsiders such as Trump and Sanders"

    I really believe that's true. We're looking for the man on the white horse...

    By the way: Look at the advertisement at the top of the MarketWatch page:

    and contrast that with the information in the article. This comparison neatly summarizes the reality of America. Unqualified others may "discover their next property" to be a shopping cart under a bridge.

    @PRESSmUP- Thanks for the heads-up on that! Good guess. We were looking at a couple of places like that just the other day, but everything we saw was so, you know... common.:)
