FYI: Telling investors not to panic when the market is churning is like telling someone afraid of heights not to look down from a high ledge.
It’s easier said than done. Yet “don’t panic” is at the top of seemingly every expert’s list of what not to do now, Tuesday’s powerful U.S. stock market advance notwithstanding. Indeed, many long-term investment advocates suggest closing your eyes and going for the ride — but of course you’re better off investing with your eyes wide open.
