Schwab IMPACT Conference, Nov. 10-13

edited September 2015 in Off-Topic
Hi, guys.

Just a quick question for those of you who may be attended: do you see any gain in having one or more MFO folks covering the Schwab conference? Typically we just attend the two Morningstar conferences. Functionally, about 50% of the gain from those conferences is the opportunity to meet or interview folks, about 30% is cruising the exhibitor's hall to start gathering leads and maybe 20% is listening to keynote and general session folks. We often leverage our attendance at the Morningstar conference, which is in Chicago, by doing one or two visits to managers headquartered there.

I have no clear idea of what the opportunity set at Schwab might be or how it compares. It looks like the flights would be reasonably affordable and we'd try to get Schwab to waive the thousand dollar entry fees, so we could likely pull it off without breaking the bank.

Any thoughts?

David

  • @David_Snowball Perhaps a few Chicagoland MFO members can volunteer to attend?
  • Sorry. Schwab is in Boston this year, Morningstar is in Chicago.

The question would be something like, are there people at the conference that we really need to meet, interview and/or network with. That might require a more-or-less formal arrangement.
