Vanguard Launches Its Second Alternative Mutual Fund
FYI: Vanguard, the globally recognized pioneer in low-cost index funds, took another step into the world of alternative investments earlier this year, when it filed a Form N-1A with the SEC for the launch of the Vanguard Alternative Strategies Fund. Crap! I was thinking I would get out of WBLSX and buy VASFX at Vanguard. Why do they have to have 250K minimum? Makes no sense.
Probably in keeping with their conservative belief in providing 'the right products' to the right people. If your balance is 20 or 50K or you're just starting out, I suspect they don't want you dabbling in alt strategies anyway....which is probably a good idea. Plus, I think this is being targetted for its Managed Payout fund and also being offered to institutions, endowments, and pension plans as their primary customer, too.

According to M*, the initial purchase is $250K (investor share). Hate to ask for the Admiral and Instiitute Shares. The ER is 0.40.
