Should Your Small-Cap Mutual Fund Be Growth Or Value?

FYI: Small-cap mutual funds have outperformed midcap and large-cap funds in the past 15 years, though doing so has involved greater up-and-down volatility. A $10,000 investment in the average small-cap fund on March 31, 2000, would have grown to $36,138 by June 5 this year, according to Morningstar Inc. data. The same investment would have increased to $34,170 in the average midcap fund and $16,594 in the average large-cap fund.
