This is the headline of a very good documentary that is airing on NHK. If you happen to have access to this channel, it is worth watching.

As with many other things, it seems that China is the problem. New and huge demand for beef. It has affected beef prices everywhere. Japan is having a hard time getting imports as China is running around the globe and overbidding for the product. It is also affecting feed prices.

One interesting note from the show was that a lot of Australian sheep ranchers are converting to cattle.
