Betting On Private Companies

FYI: (Click On Article Title At Top Of Google Search)

Regards,Venture capitalists aren’t the only investors looking to get in on the ground floor of promising, but private, companies. Increasingly, mutual fund managers are opting to make late-stage private investments rather than wait for initial public offerings.

To get a glimpse of which funds are venturing into this market, we asked Morningstar to screen for funds with stakes in privately held companies, including Airbnb, Dropbox, First Data, and Uber Technologies. More than 100 mutual funds have invested in at least one of those four, and many, in two or three.

Ted
