FYI: In the wake of Bill Gross’s departure from PIMCO, investors were left wondering what was in store for the company’s bond funds. After several years of solid performance within Morningstar’s nontraditional bond fund category, the firm’s Unconstrained Bond Fund (MUTF:PFIUX) underperformed the category average in 2013 with an 81st percentile ranking. This changed in 2014 as the fund turned in top quartile performance for the year, but rather than being able celebrate the solid track record, the departure of Gross in September put the firm on the hot-seat with many advisors and investors.
