Blackstone Reaches For The Sky

FYI: A few months back I purchased Blackstone, a private equiy firm, (BX) for it's excellent 8%+ dividend, and I hold a position in KKR another private equity firm paying 6%+ both for income.

  • Long BX, awaiting the spin-off of the advisory business sometime this year.
  • Calling it the Blackstone tower sounds much better than the Willis tower.

BX looks very good. I might consider that. Cannot beat the dividend.

Keep in mind that the dividend is not going to be consistent over time and it is a volatile stock. It is also an MLP. However, it has done well, I think they've learned some lessons from the mistakes they made in 2008 and management gets a lot of its compensation from the dividend.
  • @scott, Thanks. I knew the background and the dividend issue. Blackrock seems to be running on all cylinders. This has been in my Watchlist since you mentioned it several months ago but I had forgotten to keep track. My bad. This thread jolted my memory. Good for a couple of percent of my portfolio I think. I'll buy once I get stateside. I don't trust wireless that much especially over here even though I have DNS coverage.
