FYI: The performance of precious metals mutual funds over the past 15 years still stands high above the S&P 500's. But these holders of gold and other mining stocks have come way off their 2011 highs.
In the last decade and a half, the price of gold has dropped 40% from a peak of $1,922 an ounce to about $1,160 now.
