FYI: RS Investments became the newest entrant in the liquid alternatives market with its recent announcement of the launch of two long/short equity mutual funds: The RS Focused Opportunity Fund (RSFOX) and the RS Focused Growth Opportunity Fund (RSFGX). Both funds are managed by Rick Brandt, an industry veteran with more than a decade of long/short portfolio-management experience, who joined RS Investments in October 2014. Brandt will team up with the RS Growth and Value investment teams, as well as the Investment Strategy group, to develop new strategies focused on “demonstrated capabilities,” and a “better balance of risks.”
