ETF Market Vital Signs, March 4: Markets Yawn, Stretch, Stay In Bed

FYI: Light trading volumes continued as U.S. stocks fell for the second day in a row. Health-care and biotech stocks, as well as solar-sectors like Guggenhiem Solar ETF (TAN), mustered gains. Bonds barely bothered to get off the couch. Most of the news came from overseas. Markets woke up to a surprise interest-rate cut by central bankers in India, while an ongoing scandal at Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR) stoked heavy trading in Brazil-themed ETFs. The most important event of the week remains Friday’s February jobs number. That day, as it happens, is the six year anniversary of financial crisis market bottom. Superstitious anyone.

Ted
