FYI: Assets commanded by managers of exchange-traded fund portfolios shrank in the fourth quarter as three industry leaders saw fast growth shift into reverse.
Recently one of the fastest-growing corners in asset management, managed portfolios are assembled from bundles of ETFs on behalf of clients, mostly financial advisers who delegate money-management duties. Recent Morningstar data show that regulatory scrutiny, manager turnover and lackluster performance flattened the competitive landscape by hitting the industry’s best-known names: F-Squared Investments, Windhaven Investment Management and Good Harbor Financial.
