From all the news that's fit to print to all the news you need, even if we have to make it up. MSM news has deteriorated so badly, many people do not even bother to watch it. Whether it is the glorification of the news or the bias, it has turned off a lot of people who get their news by the internet or just don't follow the news. The lying of anchors and newscasters is not surprising considering what NBC did to GM. Give the job to droids. It might actually improve the product.
It has gone downhill so badly since the days of Huntley/Brinkley and Cronkite.
Finally, I saw the apology of BW and IMO, it was nowhere near an apology. His smirk was a big turnoff. The words he selected gave no impression of being sorry. Hopefully what we are witnessing is the beginning of the end for Brian Williams.
It hasn't affected NBC's share price yet so stay tuned. (GE)

But, there's always his rapping:
If shown a picture of Brian Williams, most people on the street would not be able to identify him. On the other hand, show a recent picture of Bruce Jenner and everyone knows who "she" is.
We watch NBC News most evenings. For no particular reason I guess.
On air, Williams exhibits a mild and likable persona. Certainly a polished speaker.
His ascendancy (for lack of a better word) to Nightly News anchor was steeped in controversy at the time. Unlike most/all predecessors at the major networks up to that time, Williams did not have a news & journalism background. Sophisticated viewers are probably aware of this shortcoming.
As a "news reader", I consider him superb. We'll miss him.

"As his profession shrinks and softens, Williams felt compelled to try to steal the kind of glory that can only be earned the hard way."
Yep.
This "problem" is especially evident in Financial reporting...sad for the non-aware
I'm offended for several reasons. Not only was he a news reporter by trade, sworn to report the facts and nothing but the facts, but he's effectively America's nightly news anchor following in the steps of Cronkite, et al.
Second is the issue of stolen valor, not only from soldiers (I spent 20 months in Vietnam as company clerk for a marine corps special forces unit and no one had to exaggerate) but how about the 1000's of reporters who have gone to war and been wounded, killed, captured, or tortured.
Lastly, he's still trying to weasel his way out with the 'fog of 12 years of memory' story. Rubbish. It's been almost 50 years for me and you Never forget.
If this was Japan, he would do the honorable thing.
and so it goes,
