edited January 2015 in Off-Topic
Union Pacific (UNP), Canadian Pacific (CP) beating this morning. CSX (CSX) beat the other day. UNP and CP have reasonably positive outlooks, despite commodity volatility. Canadian National reports on the 27th, Kansas City Southern tomorrow.

CP also announced a joint venture with a Canadian REIT to unlock value from some of its excess land holdings.

"Canadian Pacific has an “enormous” amount of land close to cities, said Michael Cooper, CEO of Dream Unlimited, a Toronto-based real estate developer.

“They want to choose a developer that will help them get the value out of it without them getting into the real estate development business themselves,” said Cooper, whose company manages C$14.7 billion in assets in North America and Europe. “As cities grow, some of their lands become really excellent for development that maybe weren’t before. That’s exciting.”
