If the mutual fund world was a meritocracy, thousands of funds would die tomorrow.

As it is, only the unloved, unfortunate, unlucky and unnoticed typically get killed off in any given year, and no one mourns their loss. This year is no exception, as funds that took the big dirt nap mostly were a mix of the uninspired, goofy, mediocre, of the marketing failures and the big mistakes
