Mixed Housing Data

FYI: After a big jump in sentiment based on Tuesday's NAHB Home Builder Sentiment report, today's data on Housing Starts and Building Permits was mixed. For Housing Starts, economists were expecting a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 1.025 million, but the actual level came in slightly weaker at 1.009 million, which was down from last month's reading of 1.038 million. While Housing Starts were weaker than expected, though, Building Permits exceeded forecasts rising to a SAAR level of 1.08 million compared to forecasts of 1.04 million.
