FYI: U.S. rose on Thursday, clinching the S&P 500′s 37th record finish of 2014, on the heels of an upbeat report on weekly jobless claims in the U.S. and after European Central Bank President Mario Draghi promised a larger stimulus to buttress flagging European economic growth. European shares rose during overseas’ trading hours, but U.S.-listed Europe stock ETFs gave back gains by the end of the American session. Bond prices tilted lower and gold was little changed from its roughly four-year lows.
