Here's a statement of the obvious: The opinions expressed here are those of the participants, not those of the Mutual Fund Observer. We cannot vouch for the accuracy or appropriateness of any of it, though we do encourage civility and good humor.
FYI: Few of today's top-yielding dividend mutual funds have been around for 10 years. Few are beating the S&P 500 year to date. And none of the top yielders have higher returns than the S&P 500 in the past 10 years. For example, Alpine Dynamic Dividend Fund leads the pack with a 12-month yield of 6.28%, far above the S&P 500's 1.98%, according to Morningstar data. Not sure where the author got his list of top-10 yielder's (TIBIX shows a yield of 4.90%) but nevertheless I've always felt that an individual can build their own dividend fund choosing a handful or two of individual equities saving themselves annual expenses.
Old_Skeet has a good representation of funds that made the list. They are as follows: CFLGX, EDIAX, and SVAAX. I have been looking at PGUAX and I like its three main sectors of investment focus ... energy (30%), utilities (30%) and communcation servives (20%). Plus it pays out a good dividend at about 4.3%. I just might tuck it into my growth & income global equity sleeve as it is split about evenly between it's domestic and foreign holdings. My holdings in this sleeve are EDIAX, CWGIX and DEQAX.
I have linked it's M* report below should others wish to take a look.
