@Crash True dat Many familiar names from this board in that article. Take MFLDX for example, half of us will be right about it and the other half wrong.
@VintageFreak. Why are you surprised with the AKREX note. I've owned FBRVX and now AKREX and it has always been a steady performer in up and down markets.
I added to FPACX during that downturn hoping the fund will decrease their cash position and find some stocks to invest after that correction. If not I will have to reconsider my FPACX investment as I do not want to invest into cash.
Why anyone would choose that fund over GLRBX, JABAX, FPACX, and/or ICMBX is baffling. (Also probably MAPOX, I did not check; used to be not available everywhere.) Check the performance for any period since 08. Over PRWCX (everyone's favorite here) sure, since its 08 dip performance was so mediocre, and that's the whole reason we hold balanced funds.
DV, if you will not give your manager freedom to do as he or she sees fit, including going to cash, then no, you should not be investing with that person in the first place, or ever.

Likewise, but I did sell AKREX in current downturn. It is just that AKREX wouldn't come to mind as first fund to buy in a down market. Bottom fishing candidate? Absolutely, and which is when I bought it in 2009. Thought it was prudent to take gains.
