FYI: Although Canada’s liquid alternatives market isn’t nearly as robust as that of the U.S., increasing demand for the asset class has migrated across the border, and in response, Canada’s Purpose Investments has launched a pair of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on the Toronto Stock Exchange: The Purpose Multi-Strategy Market Neutral Fund (PMM) and the Purpose Enhanced US Equity Fund (PEU).
“We are excited about these two new funds as they offer all Canadians access to important alternative investment strategies, but with transparency and low fees,” said Som Seif, President and CEO of Purpose Investments, in release announcing the launch of the ETFs. Mr. Seif also said that each of the new ETFs is “the first of its kind,” with the Purpose Multi-Strategy Market Neutral Fund Canada’s first market-neutral ETF, and the Purpose Enhanced US Equity Fund the first to use a “130/30 strategy with U.S. equities.”
