AQR Launches Market Neutral Fund Amid Broad Market Decline

edited October 2014 in The Bullpen
FYI: AQR Funds filed a prospectus for the launch of two alternative mutual funds back in July. The first, the AQR Style Premia Alternative LV Fund, debuted on September 17 and has gone on to attract $25 million in assets. Investors waiting for the launch of the second fund, the AQR Equity Market Neutral Fund, needn’t wait any longer, as the fund got its launch last week.

The AQR Equity Market Neutral Fund debuted on October 7 with $5 million in assets under management. The fund’s objective is to provide absolute positive returns regardless of market direction, while exhibiting low correlation to the markets in which it invests. Under normal circumstances, the fund will be at least 80% invested in equities and equity-like instruments, and its investments are not restricted by market-cap size or geography. Its prospectus does say, however, that the fund will invest primarily in developed markets, as opposed to emerging markets.
