Looks the last two Fed Chairs may have chosen very opportune times to leave their posts. Greenspan departed in 2006 shortly before the bottom fell out (2007-2009). And Bernanke left while the recovery looked still intact - and after a 40+% increase in equity valuations under his tenure. Have to wonder whether Yellen will fare as well.
Bernanke may have gone from teapot into fire. Couldn't get a mortgage. And yesterday underwent a grilling by David Boies in the AIG case. Ouch! ..... Also, I think you have to indicate on your mortgage app whether or not you're a party to a lawsuit - so that could be the issue there.
*One source puts the rise in the S&P 500 from 1280 to 1810 under Bernanke - a 41% increase.
