Given the concerns that I have about US tech companies facing an increasingly chilly reception in Asia (see the recent situation with Qualcomm, for example), I am rather impressed by Apple's progress, including some discussion that Apple Pay will be working with China's Union Pay state credit card.

That is big news indeed. The credit card business is actually just taking off in this region so a chance to leapfrog older systems.
