If You Receive Email or Phone Call from IRS, Police or DMV Regarding Taxes ...
Beware of Latest Phone Scam (The Acorn) http://www.theacorn.com/news/2013-12-12/Business/Beware_Of_Latest_Phone_Scam.html "They may send bogus emails that look like IRS messages. They may even call a second time with a different caller ID and say they’re from the police or the DMV." ----- Note to Ted: I completely disavow any interest in morals or ethics. This post is strictly for informational purposes. Regards
My better half has been getting calls - they are even leaving voicemails - says she has committed some federal offense. They are using name of police officer - name of real local police officer - and saying we have to pay some fine, and wishing us good luck with our case.
The only reason we don't fall for this we know the limitations of technology and when not to use it. We are not in the Star Trek era. NOTHING like this will be communicated in our lifetime over the phone. There will always be a letter in the mail first.
So anyone getting calls like these claiming from a federal authority out of the blue, just hang up.
