Internet Trolls Are Jerks In Real Life Too

"The Canadian researchers defined trolling as the 'practice of behaving in a deceptive, destructive, or disruptive manner in a social setting on the Internet with no apparent instrumental purpose'."

  • Interesting subject and article Hank. There is another set of trolls, those who actually work for an organization. They infiltrate forums and spread false rumors and lies. The political committees have been pulling this kind of trolling as of late. Left wing posting on right-sided forums and vis-a-versa is common these days.
  • I consider Rush a troll as is Ted Nugent. Geez, I could list them for a while.

    Way back in the wild west days of the internet before WWW, we had to deal with trolls on the UseNetNewsGroups and Freenets. The only way you can deal with a troll is to ignore them. Shun the crap out of them. They're energy sinks and live off the emotions they stir up in others. Don't react to their obvious attempt to bait you and they will die off.

    Trolling is when you throw bait on the water to get the fish to bite.
