Thanks for posting this. On the page for P/Es and Yields of the major indexes: it (wsj.com) says that the P/E for the Russell 2000 index is 86.73 Where did they get that? On Morningstar, in the Portfolio section, when I put in the symbol IWM which is the iSharesRussell 2000 ETF, it says that the P/E is 19.78 For NAESX, the Vanguard Small Cap Index Fund, M* shows the P/E as 19.46 What's up with the WSJ 86.73 figure? Stratospheric P/E......
I am thinking the action for 2014 will be in small caps. As you state on a 12 month trailing P/E Ratio of 86.73 is high in stratospere and with a forward estimate (P/E Ratio) of 25.78 then the small caps are going to have to kick off some strong earnings for 2014 to support and grow their valuation or there is going to one heck of a pull back in this asset class by my thinking. With this, I have started increasing my holdings in my small/mid cap sleeve which is currently about 20% of the growth area of my portfolio.
