Bond Funds - The Silver Lining

edited December 2013 in Fund Discussions
It seems that bond fund outflows are gathering pace. For those who need to sell shares, I can understand not wanting to have to sell at lower prices. But for those of us that are in the accumulation phase, wouldn't this be an opportunity to accumulate more and more shares at cheaper prices by reinvesting the interest? Intermediate bond funds are still paying around 3%, and bonds should eventually turn around, so why abandon bond funds now, unless the money is needed immediately?

  • Accumulating wealth is the goal not accumulating shares. The two shouldn't be considered synonymous.
