does anyone know why PRBLX (parnassus equity income) lost 4.6% today?

edited November 2013 in Fund Discussions
according to morningstar, the risk is very low for this fund.
in the historical prices of this fund, I didn't this huge drop in one day for this fund. I looked at their website and no signs of any dividends either.

Just curious.
thanks

  • Plesae ignore my question. I can see the dividends on their site now.
  • With the $1.89 dividend, PRBLX is up +0.4% today.
  • nath, for something 100% in cash, you sure are active on the board!:)
  • trying to learn from you folks how to stay invested when the markets are tanking.

My biggest weakness is, when the stock market starts going south, I start selling...that is not a healthy investing strategy for a retirement portfolio...i understand that.

I need to get over that fear like I need to get over the needles fear (I hate shots). :)

It is a personality shift I need to work on..the only way I can learn is to interact with folks like you and family of mutualfundobservers.

    Regards fundlarm.

  • Nath, may I suggest you visit the Morningstar forums (Morningstar.com), especially the Allocation/Balanced Funds forum and the Mutual Funds forum. You may get more help there. There are tactics for selling, tactics for staying invested (or not -- but you'll learn why and how to sell, rather than being motivated by fear) during downturns, etc.
    Good luck.
  • Reply to @bnath001: Nath, see my peptalk elsewhere about AMANX and see if that kind of advisory is of help to you in your trials. Trust your manager and your own decision. If you cannot, really cannot, do something else.
  • Thanks David.

Thanks InformalEconomist. I will start watching the forum you mentioned.
