Elon Musk posted on X over the weekend. “Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.”
What did this guy think would happen? That his money would buy influence? That only works with Middle East countries. He is surely a horrible judge of character. Who does such legislation impact the most? A lot of jobs in clean energy are in places like Texas and Florida. Interestingly, China has been moving more towards clean energy lately. And might end up eating our lunch in this arena, as we pivot to coal. Apparently, in a world hungry for renewables, we are opting to sit this one out.

The absurdity of what they're doing: it's the only "build manufacturing in the U.S." program that is doing anything directly to do so. That objective apparently means nothing to the mob boss and his minions.
We were losing the race to China already; now we're wiping out the only opportunity we have to catch up.
I knew for a long time that competition from other automakers was coming for Tesla in a big way, but his ham-fisted leadership has really taken it down much further than anyone could have foretold.
And he keeps prattling on about robots that will babysit and mow the lawn. And it sure looks like his so-called robotaxi rollout this summer was a complete farce. His shareholders are fools for trusting this guy. If he was at the cutting edge he would be all over solid state batteries. Perhaps his massive investment in his own lIon battery plants has tied his hands?
Here is an interesting story on Rimac, who is talking production-ready solid state -https://www.autoblog.com/news/rimac-just-unveiled-solid-state-batteries-and-e-axles-with-8100-lb-ft-of-torque
"Rimac’s partnership with ProLogium and Mitsubishi Chemical has produced a solid-state battery system that promises lighter weight, higher energy density, and greater safety than today’s lithium-ion packs. Unlike many competitors still waving around concept slides, Rimac insists this is production-ready tech. It will sit alongside the company’s Evo Battery, which uses advanced NMC 46XX cells, and its flexible Hybrid Battery platform tailored to hybrids."
"a 100-kilowatt-hour solid-state pack can be charged from 10% to 80%, which is the go-to metric for road trips, in just six and a half minutes". For reference the fastest Tesla charge time from 10-80% is about 3-4 times longer, given a similar capacity battery.
Mind you, Rimac builds expensive supercars, but this tech will be game-changing for all EVs. I am an old school ICE performance car fan, but I am still excited about what is a significant breakthrough in automotive tech. It will still take some time for production costs to come down, of course.
musk's main error was that he did not realize the trump crime family needs continuous blatant payments and flattery. one w/out the other risks eventually becoming the 'hardly knew him guy'.
so musk's $1t comp package from tesla will go a long way in affording a rekindling w/trump.
plus the whole nazi\rascist values now core to gop.
